October at the movies is looking wild. We've got Tom Cruise in a comedy, a man trapped inside a whale, DC's first full on horror movie and finally a Street Fighter movie that looks like it gets it. Here are the 5 October releases we're most excited about, counting down to our #1, with the official trailer for each and where you can watch.

Digger

In Theaters Warner Bros. · Legendary · Dir. Alejandro G. Iñárritu

Tom Cruise like you've never seen him. The Oscar winning director of The Revenant and Birdman casts Cruise as Digger Rockwell, a larger than life oil tycoon who accidentally sets off an environmental catastrophe — and then tries to convince the world he's the hero who can save it. Warner Bros. calls it "a comedy of catastrophic proportions," and with Riz Ahmed, John Goodman, Jesse Plemons and Sandra Hüller along for the ride, we're all in.

Animals

Netflix Netflix · Artists Equity · Dir. Ben Affleck

Ben Affleck back in the director's chair for a gritty L.A. crime story? Say less. Affleck plays a mayoral candidate whose son is kidnapped, with Kerry Washington as his wife, and the two of them scramble for ransom money while their darkest secrets start coming out. With Gillian Anderson and Steven Yeun in the cast, this one looks tense, dark and very bingeable from your couch.

Whalefall

In Theaters 20th Century Studios · Dir. Brian Duffield

A scuba diver searching for his father's remains gets swallowed whole by a 60 ton sperm whale and has one hour of air to get out. That's it. That's the movie, and it sounds absolutely terrifying. Based on Daniel Kraus's hit novel, Austin Abrams plays the trapped diver, with Josh Brolin as the dad whose lessons might be his only way out, plus Emily Rudd and Elisabeth Shue. Pure edge of your seat, hold-your-breath stuff.

Clayface

In Theaters DC Studios · Dir. James Watkins

DC goes full horror just in time for Halloween. Clayface follows Matt Hagen, a rising movie star who's brutally disfigured and signs up for an experimental treatment to get his face back only for his body to turn into living clay. Written by horror master Mike Flanagan (with Hossein Amini) and rated R, it promises a tragic, stomach churning villain origin unlike anything the DCU has done. Tom Rhys Harries stars, and the trailers are seriously creepy.

Street Fighter

In Theaters Legendary · Capcom · Paramount · Dir. Kitao Sakurai

Round one… FIGHT! Our most anticipated movie of the month is a stylish live action reboot set in 1993, when estranged fighters Ryu (Andrew Koji) and Ken (Noah Centineo) get pulled into the World Warrior Tournament by Chun-Li (Callina Liang). The cast is stacked Jason Momoa as Blanka, David Dastmalchian as M. Bison, Roman Reigns as Akuma, Cody Rhodes as Guile and 50 Cent as Balrog. It looks loud, colorful and exactly as fun as the arcade cabinet we grew up with.
